Tuesday seems like a perfectly good day to catch up around here, a bit of this and that.
Tomorrow is my birthday and this year, I'm laying low. The past two years I'd be getting ready to go to Squam and this year, there's a little less excitement in the air. I visualize the beauty of the lake and the docks; being out there under the stars and hearing the magical loons and I feel a little bit of longing for fall.
This time of year on the east coast has always been my favorite. There's a nip in the air, a change of pace and scenery just when you're tired of your summer clothes and looking at boots online. All of the museums in NYC unveil their shows and there's a buzz in the air that becomes kinetic. You know something's starting and you want to be a part of it.
That said, I'm loving September here in Los Angeles. It's quieter and in my mind just about perfect. I enjoy when everyone has gone home and during the week, I like to walk along the sand after I get my coffee; looking about at the locals, (there's always surfers), and enjoying life at the beach.
Tonight I'm being taken to a favorite restaurant by a dear friend and I've had my hair re-colored, after a color mishap that left my newly dyed locks a tinge of green. Apparently my hair took more of a beating from the California sun and now properly toned, my hair is no longer green and styled to pretty. I'm planning on a long skirt and the necklace thatJen gifted me when I was visiting Portland and I'm looking forward to walking around Venice before dinner. The restaurant is popular, no reservations existed so we'll put our names onto the list for the communal table and walk around until we're called.
Even though I'm laying low, I will welcome this 46th year and embrace myself for another year well done. It's been a full year, a plentiful and crazy year where I've grown in ways I didn't even know existed last year this time.this
