- I took a 3 day intensive photography workshop this weekend that was more about writing than shooting.
- And talking. There was a lot of talking.
- Our teacher, a woman whose work I've followed for some time and I admire quite a lot, (ok, I crush on her a little), was amazing.
- She was open and encouraging and she didn't coddle any of us.
- In fact, she pushed me hard enough that I decided I wasn't going back on Sunday, "I don't work like that...' my declaration and decision.
- But I did. And that's when I saw that I can in fact, work exactly in the fashion we learnt in the workshop.
- Another fact: the whole process is quite simple.
- A voice and vision will be found if one is willing to do the work.
- It most likely won't be easy, and if it is, than it probably wasn't excavated from any depth.
- The question I keep asking myself, the one that was presented in the opening moments last Friday night: are you taking interesting pictures, or taking pictures of interesting things?
