to do

With less than a month until Christmas, and Hannukah literally around the corner, (so freaking early this year!), I've been putting a forgotten fire under my arse and have been motivated towards accomplishing long-standing projects and to do's.

I've thought about my word for 2012, (photographer), and then in September, I heard a friend utter (----) and I felt as though my choice had been set for 2013.

Because I'm prone to changing my mind rather spontaneously, (ahem), a short time ago I dedicated a page in my journal to my potential word to see how/if it fits. I wrote it colorful and big, and I drew a cloud around it, adding additional words when they occurred to me as alternative choices to consider; words that might act as attendant and strengthen the connection.

This year photographer was specific and direct. For 2013 I want a wider spectrum; a noun with  fluid momentum; its impetus softened, vulnerable.

It's been five months since we've unpacked here and as M likes to say, 'we're at the five yard line...' or, we're 94% done. I think we've finally found a rug for the massive family room upstairs, and I finally found a chandelier for my princess room the little turret room off our bedroom. We need to change the hood above the cook range in our kitchen because it's fugly for starters, and M is certain to knock himself unconscious or at the very least give himself a gash on its ungainly and low hanging ridge.

The other fugly element in this house is the fire and ice fireplace that is the focal piece of the massive family room and generates no heat. No, this is all show baby, with its spangly, shiny, matchy-match to the slate on the mantel glass bits that generate the faux fire. Once I change the color of the glass to a solid, neutral it will probably be less flash, I think next up is painting the very matchy slate blue wall.

I'm looking forward to our Southwestern road trip. I have four packs of expired 600 film left, I deem this road trip, (Vegas, Zion, Bryce, The Grand Canyon and Phoenix),  pola-worthy. Besides, it becomes so precious that it never gets used, or when it finally does, (as it has been with the last 2 packs), the colors are fading and there are divets.

And the Impossible Project has done it. These two films are AH-MAZING. Strong color, no need to shield and stable, stable, stable.

I'm reading Cloud Atlas in a proper paper novel, which feels strange after months on the e-reader. Admittedly I miss the bright light on the Kindle that works brilliantly when I want to read in bed at night, because most book lights are complete crap. (As is my bedside lamp which is pretty and very ambient but provides no light for my old eyes.)

And finally, in honor of miss A's favorite show series finale recently, today's random dance song is this one, volumed cranked, at 6:22am
