laundry list

Its been a rough week. We've been home indoors every day since we've returned. Miss A has been bogged down with homework, and that, combined with her love of making movies, translates into a massive school project becoming a short film made here.

Sometimes re-entry is like that, and other times when I've returned from traveling the cadence of our everyday is welcome. I've had a healthy run of beating myself up for not going to the gym, for not working on projects or my website, for being exhausted from our road trip and so on.

I did laundry every damn day and I'm caught up. No small feat when I realized I'd left every basket full of dirty clothes before we left. And I made a mental note to self that the baskets will be empty the next time we travel as a family.

I'm going to walk in the hills of Hollywood today. I'll choose one of the secret staircases, and I'll wind my way up and down the hills. I'll remind myself to ease into all that I want, that change doesn't happen in a day, and I will commit to memory that I am open and vulnerable without my hackles raised.

  1. Enjoy those hills. I am jealous. I'm an east coast girl (NC) who used to get to travel to your area on occasion in a former job. I have driven those hills, completely intrigued with it all - the history, the geography, the architecture, the flora and fauna. I didn't know about the secret stairs. Have you ever eaten at Yamishura? That is a must go place for me. I have fond memories hanging out there with my work buds. It's lovely at sunset.

Maybe I will get back out there before I am too old to do some hiking. If I was loaded I would come out there for a few months and explore the whole coast. I have only been from, oh, 100 miles south of Newport Beach to that Naval base past Malibu. I loved it all.

    Enjoy.
