where we were :: vegas

Downtown

Which is to say, the older part of town. What I expected Las Vegas to be, and what the strip isn't.

The actual strip is overwhelming. So many people conveyed along from casino to casino, it's hard to find the doors leading outside. And then once you've finally found real sunlight and you can see the sky, the pickings are slim. Fast food and parking lots. Everything you can ever want or need found just inside, so really, why go out, unless you're on your way to another venue.

The shark aquarium in our hotel was incredible with its domed walk ways lined with benches to sit. We were able to watch as the sharks, stingrays and fish swam overhead; quite surreal actually, with the floor the only solid surface.
