two

  1. Trying to perfect my iced coffee technique while giving up on the idea that I can make good cold brew.
  2. For whatever reason, there's always this bourbon-like, (for lack of a better description), after-taste. Doesn't matter beans, grind, different methods...mine is just not good.
  3. We've done some re-arranging around the house because someone came home with music from Japan.
  4. And if you know him, you know that finding space for anything new for his collection isn't easy.
  5. Because of my GF/DF life, most of my cookbooks have become irrelevant and take up space. Combined with the fact that Pinterest has become my cookbook collection and suddenly, I cleared an entire bookshelf for M and his ridiculously vast music collection.
  6. I learned how to use my photo printer this week. I use the word 'learned' very loosely as there is still a tremendous learning curve with papers and settings.
  7. Maybe I should say, I know how to make photos come out of the printer!
  8. This past summer Darlene took me to a gluten-free bakery/palace of a place that's local to her city. I got to have the best GF everything, and was disappointed that I couldn't find it here.
  9. Until Friday when I went to the other grocery store in town, the one I've been going to more and more because my favorite coffee place is freestanding, (with drive-thru!), in the same  lot.
  10. Anyway, I was out of GF bread and when I saw Kinickkinick(kinick) I bought it immediately, texted Dar, and then had avocado toast for lunch. And yes, the bread is as good as I remember.
  11. I finished this book which I thought was beautiful even if it had this annoying feature, 'Oprah Notes' with the Kindle edition.
  12. Footnotes, from Oprah, hyperlinked throughout the novel, which I found so distracting, (footnotes in fiction, wtf?), and wish her comments and notes were added at the back of the novel as they would have been in a paper version.
  13. Or maybe I'm dating myself. Maybe this is how notes are now added?
  14. I love comments and notes after I've read the book. I want to make my own impressions of the story and then see what is said, like my own private book club.
  15. I watched this movie in the theater and I'm glad to have on the big screen.
  16. And I'm finally catching up on this show after my SOA blow-out.
  17. The best part of this past week? Watching gray whales migrating!! It was/is one of the most spectacular things I've ever witnessed.
  18. First there is the steam from its blow, that's what catches your attention. Then the graceful arc of gray skin with white, crusty barnacles, a brief glimpse of tail. These massive beauties were at least 30' long, (which is why you can glimpse them from shore), and I was lucky enough to see four.
  19. We had drinks and a rowdy game of Cards Against Humanity with our neighbors, and the next day I made the promise to myself that I will remember no good comes from drinking the night before an early AM 60 minute spin class.

  1. I always thought you can turn those kind of comments off from books on kindle or maybe Oprah has special dispensation and she paid loads of money to disable that button?
