four

  1. I watched this movie and cried enough to walk away with puffy eyes.
  2. With a little distance I see the patches in the storyline, but overall it was heartache and beauty and NYC never looked lovelier.
  3. After a much needed root touchup this morning, I watched this silly film and was glad for the levity after Saturday.
  4. We gathered supplies for the girl who has her 8th grade science sleep-away 'astro camp' this coming week.
  5. I was inspired to go out and shoot after last week's photo show, and a lecture by a favorite Thursday evening.
  6. I remember sitting in her workshop last year basically terrified; a beginner and so green.
  7. It felt good to recognize how far I've come since last year's workshop, and to hear a similar presentation this year with fresh ears.
  8. I heard something in the lecture Thursday that was similar to something she said to me last year in our one-on-one crit.
  9. And it wasn't until she was speaking that I realized what I'd understood her to be saying in our talk wasn't what she was saying after all.
  10. I was sort of flattered by her words last year and it really wasn't her intention. She wasn't being shitty, but what I heard, wasn't the advice she offered.
  11. In hindsight I'm glad I understood what she said with rose colored glasses because I'm much better equipped these days to hear what she said without it being personal.
  12. I mean it is personal in that it's her opinion, which is subjective, but at the time I valued what she thought more than what I thought, so you get where I'm going with all of this.
  13. Later, I understood that I'm where I'm supposed to be, that my process is working really well for me,  and that her information in that workshop was my stepping stone to finding that truth.
  14. Here's another truth: I adore our dog and I'm grateful everyday that he's in our family now. Dude saved me.

  1. OH! I didn't realise you did one of Cig's workshops. I watched a talk of hers on YouTube recently and it blew my mind. I'd love to talk to you about what your experience was of her teaching style etc. sometime.
