I've been looking at interiors lately. Pinterest boards and design books. Magazines and shop windows.
We've lived in this house since last July and it has taken this long for me to get an idea of what I want and need. We shoved a good portion of our belongings and furniture into the storage under the house. It's cluttered and it makes me wonder if the clutter I sometimes feel overwhelmed by is the vapors of all that madness underneath us.
The storage space is definitely something I'll tackle this summer.
I've hired a painter to come and paint the hideous to me cadet blue wall that is our family room. So matchy-match with the slate mantle face on the cheesy fire and ice fireplace, I chose a rich, cool deep gray as a neutral backdrop for the colors already in place.
We chose one of my photos for the big wall. A favorite 35mm print of NYC that's color and looks black and white. It's very urban and feels like the perfect balance against all the bright blue that is L.A.
A wants to switch out rooms. She wants to move to the smaller guest room because her current room is too close to the kitchen and she can't sleep in. I'm all too happy to make the switch. I wanted her bigger room, (which is a room and a half), to be the guest room from the beginning, but everything works out in the end.
We're not moving a lot of the furniture. I'll give up my cream desk and instead I'll have the turquoise set in her room. I felt sad for about three seconds, (I really do love this cream desk.)
But the extra space wins. The larger space means I'll have a proper office and with more space, I'm hoping to be more organized.
And that my friends, is all I've got.

Amazing self-portrait.
