When I was in NYC this summer, I realize that my entire way of dressing had changed. My entire vibe has become much more dressed down and casual. I'm certain I've become a California cliche, but in actuality, the comfortable layered way I've incorporated suits my lifestyle now.
As per usual, (I find everything I want/need in NYC), I shopped a bit when visiting in August. I bought a couple of button-down, cotton, classics from Uniqlo, that I can wear for an evening out, say an art opening, looking polished and still comfortable.
And recently I bought a nice silk blouse from Everlane, one that I can dress up for those times I need to be a bit more dressed.
I've changed around my jewelry a little bit. I was obsessed with crystals encased in spent bullet casings, but I'm done with them now. I feel they absorbed the necessary energies, and that was their intention. For now they reside on a peg, but I plan to put them into a bowl my family gave me for my birthday; a reminder of my journey and how far I've come.
I'm in love with this etsy seller. I have a couple bracelets and necklaces that are in constant rotation. I'm considering going old school with a charm holder to hold my collection of words, and I love her simple silver rings.
Moccasins and Birkenstocks are staples for me. I love the booties for the cooler months, and of course, when it actually is cold here, I'm a lover of boots. I built a great collection of boots whilst living back east and have yet to part with any!
I'm not sure about skirts and dresses anymore, unless of course we're going out. I need separation between by thighs, (alas I'm not blessed with thighs that don't touch no matter how hard I work out), and I have yet to find the perfect solution. If any of you have a good idea please do share!
I feel like I am a work in progress. Now that I've cleared out what doesn't work for me, I'm slowly building a wardrobe that does. Pinterest is my go-to inspiration these days, and of course, I stalk my favorites on instagram.
