11

  1. I got back from my road trip today at noon and it feels good to be home.
  2. It was a bit epic, with an explosion and a 6.9 earthquake in Eureka, our first night on the road.
  3. We visited Glass Beach, no. 7 on my list. It really is full of tumbled glass, and shells. Tiny, tiny pieces, which I've been told you are not allowed to collect but I didn't see any signs or markings saying so.
  4. I thought this would be a photography trip, and instead it turned into a food fest. We literally ate and drank our way up the Oregon coast.
  5. I'm certain to be up a few, (or five), and I don't care that my pants are tight for now. It was worth every bite.
  6. I think my favorite meal was our second night out in Bandon.
  7. We had an amazing hotel, and my foodie travel partner found us this place.
  8. I started with a fresh from the sea, seafood cocktail consisting of bay shrimpies and Dungeness crab, with a fresh horseradish-y sauce for the win.
  9. Followed by a fresh, delectable Cioppino like none other. I'm still thinking about it a week later.
  10. We ate seafood for lunch and dinner all four days we were on the coast.
  11. There were smoked prawns in Cannon Beach, and speaking of Cannon Beach, this place had the best Crab Louie on the planet.
  12. Gone was its traditional mayo base, (which I'm not opposed to), and in its place, fresh crab on a bed of delicious greens, fresh veg surrounding the mound, and a light vinagrette. Hello, delicious.
  13. We cut our trip a day short to have Sunday in San Francisco and to give me 24 hours away from the wheel.
  14. It takes twelve hours to drive from Portland to San Francisco, which seems like a lot, but wasn't really.
  15. We drove twelve hours from San Francisco to Eureka, which should have taken about seven, but because of the winding roads and torrential downpour, it was longer.
  16. Sunday in San Francisco was pretty amazing. My friend bought a house last year and it's incredible. We stayed around her place and my girl, who is an amazing chef, stuffed me like a little piggy with an impromptu BBQ in her home.
And as I'm extremely fond of saying these days, that my friends is all I've got. More later. xo
