how dry i am

When I first heard about waterless skincare here a couple years back, I thought it was crazy.

Fast forward to last Fall and I was having a conversation with a dear heart about my hormonal, (read: spots everywhere), acne and how I needed to do something about it. She mentioned a UK aesthetician, (whose name alludes me), with a blog devoted to skin care and it was there, that I found out more about skin care without water.

I started to do research, (ohai Google), and found that there are quite a lot of products devoted to waterless washing* including: balms, oils, and milks.

After a lot of thinking, I came up with my own waterless system and so far, (knock wood and everything else around me), it's working.

I wash every morning with this cleansing milk, followed by this toner, this serum, this Vitamin C serum and then moisturizer.

In the evening, I do a double wash, which seemed weird at first but now I really like. I start with this balm, (also an amazing makeup remover) as the first step, and then following with the above routine, swapping the moisturizer with the nighttime version because I don't need SPF while I sleep.

What I've noticed so far is smooth, clear skin. I have less redness and my skin looks more plump. I'm fairly certain I was drying my skin too much and this added moisture has really helped. Yes there are still occasional breakouts, but that's what this shit is for.

*waterless isn't completely waterless because you are rinsing with a wet, wash cloth.
